THE ADVANCE COmmunity of practice
In 2019, the AIM Network, along with four partners, received an NSF ADVANCE Partnership award (HRD #2017953) for the Amplifying the Alliance to Catalyze Change for Equity in STEM Success (ACCESS+) Project. The ACCESS+ GOAL is to accelerate the awareness, adoption, and adaptation of NSF ADVANCE evidence-based; gender-related; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, practices, and programs within and across STEM professional societies.
Awarded in 2012, the Women of Color Allies and Partners Project (WOC Project) funding has ended, yet, intersectionality remains a key focus of the AIM Network. The GOAL of the WOC Project was to provide AIM Network members with training and tools to be active allies and partners to STEM faculty women of color, thus facilitating academic institutional support critical to the inclusive recruitment, retention, and advancement of all STEM faculty women.
Founded in 2010, the ADVANCE Implementation Mentors (AIM) Network currently consists of 200+ diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) change leaders (e.g., PI’s/ Program Directors/Coordinators/Managers) representing more than 75+ National Science Foundation ADVANCE-funded projects throughout the United States. The GOAL of the AIM Network community of practice (CoP) is to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of ADVANCE efforts. The AIM Network seeks to provide ADVANCE change leaders with information, mentoring, networking, professional development, dissemination opportunities, and access to resources.
